At Ostler Orthodontics, your local Richland and Pasco, WA orthodontic practice, we are excited to celebrate Valentine’s Day and share our love and appreciation for our patients! Much like Halloween, Valentine’s Day is the perfect holiday to indulge in hard candies and sticky sweets. This year, try out one of our braces-friendly Valentine’s Day recipes below that are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth as well as Dr. Ostler!
Heart Egg in the Nest
For breakfast this Valentine’s Day, skip the cereal and try out this adorable heart shaped egg in the nest recipe! This cute breakfast is easy to make, kid-friendly and orthodontist approved! What you’ll need:
- 1 piece of toast (white or wheat)
- 1 heart shaped cookie cutter
- 1 egg separated
- 1 tbs butter
- Cooking Spray
First, butter your bread much like you would to make grilled cheese on both sides. Spray a nonstick pan and place the buttered bread in the middle and cook on medium heat or until both sides are lightly browned. Next, carefully remove your bread and cut out the middle with your heart shaped cookie cutter. Return your bread to the pan and place your separated egg white in the middle until just full (you may have extra whites). Lastly, add your yolk to the middle of the heart and keep on medium heat until the egg is cooked through. Serve immediately!
Red Velvet Milkshake
Red velvet cake is all the rage right now, so why not turn this tasty cake into a delicious frozen treat? What you need for this milkshake is:
- ½ cup milk of choice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup vanilla ice cream
- 3 tbs red velvet cake mix (such as Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker)
- Toppings of choice (whipped cream, cherry or sprinkles)
To assemble, combine all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream and a cherry on top for a little extra love!
